Service Areas
The neighborhoods, cities, or regions you actually serve. Keeps replies geographically accurate and gives your local SEO a quiet boost.
Why it matters
Three concrete wins:
- Replies mention your area naturally. When a reviewer says they’re in Bishop Arts, your reply can confirm “we’re right there in Bishop Arts.” That’s the kind of detail that turns a generic reply into one that reads like a local talking to a neighbor.
- No over-promising. Without this set, a reply might enthusiastically offer service to someone outside your coverage. With it set, replies stay honest about where you operate.
- Local SEO. Google reads reply text and matches neighborhood names against local-search queries. Free ranking signal.
How to write it
A single line, comma-separated, most-specific to least-specific.
- Single-location service business:
Bishop Arts, Oak Cliff, Kessler Park, north Oak Cliff - Multi-city contractor:
Dallas, Mesquite, Garland, Plano, North Richland Hills - Statewide:
Texas, primarily DFW and Houston metros; remote service available statewide
Use the names locals actually say, not the formal city names. “Bishop Arts” beats “Bishop Arts District” because that’s what shows up in reviews.
When NOT to fill this in
- Online-only / national business. Leaving this blank is fine. Replies won’t fabricate a service area.
- You serve everywhere within a city. “Dallas” alone is enough. Listing 30 neighborhoods inside Dallas is noise.
Common mistakes
- Treating it like a keyword list. Service Areas is geographic only. “Quality work” belongs in Keywords.
- Listing areas you don’t actually serve. Replies will then offer service to people in those areas. Stick to where you operate.
- Listing zip codes. Use neighborhood and city names. Reviewers don’t write “I’m in 75208,” they write “I’m in Bishop Arts.”
